Tired of traditional shows where only one genre and sect of people are allowed to commune? Vews and the Vibes, an up-and-coming Portland band, is creating spaces that are welcoming to the diverse masses, just for YOU. Vews and the Vibes stretch their sound to encompass a wide variety of genres. They're set to perform at Spring Fest 2023, having hosted several of their own headlining shows as well as creativity enriching events known as “Vibe Checks”—they feel ready to take on a new environment! Each member brings forth a unique perspective on the music scene in Oregon, but what stands out is their passion for building a strong community for musicians.
Front-man VEWS began to form the band when he moved to Portland and met vocalist Rainezra. They were working together on Fall Fest Connects (the predecessor to Spring Fest 2023) and VEWS had the opportunity to connect with a talented group of musicians to test his idea for a band. The experience was perfect, so Rainezra helped VEWS start the search for members. They shared a similar vision for Portland Music.
The band's guitarist, Jibner, met VEWS through a mutual friend and had an instant connection. They performed all over Oregon at events like Oregon Country Fair.
Bassist Cam received a DM from Rainezra that the band was in need of a bassist, bringing in a much needed heartbeat to the band. After Cam joined, the band moved through a few other instrumentalists before locking in their final crew members. Thus, Vews and the Vibes were born. Once they came together, it was apparent they shared the same goals for creating versatile music, as well as providing spaces for musicians to connect.
Regarding Spring Fest 2023, as founder Rainezra put it, "People don't know what they're in for." She feels like this isn't going to be like anything done in Portland. She continued, "Standing with a clipboard in the middle of the festival, and hearing the audience listening, then really liking each other, learning about each other, and making those connections. All these little connections happening, that’s what I’m excited for.”
Vews and the Vibes are excited to build a community of musicians from all over the city. Cam is eagerly anticipating the opportunity to showcase his music and make an impact on the Spring Fest 2023 event alongside his talented bandmates. His excitement is fueled by the opportunity to connect with the audience and leave a lasting impression. For Jibner, playing music with his close friends is a source of pure joy and fulfillment. He is driven by his love for music and the opportunity to create something special with his bandmates. His enthusiasm for the band's mission is infectious.
