THE SCRAPE - ISSUE 1

Refugio - By Rainezra

Born in Idaho, Refugio moved to Vancouver Washington at age 10 and was influenced by Reggaeton and Hip-Hop music after his cousin introduced him to the music scene, which sparked his passion for writing and creating music. At only 17 years of age he was introduced to the Portland Hip-hop scene through open mics and orga- nizations, such as Friends Of Noise and Ladies of the Rose. After turning 21 Refugio was able to get involved in one of his largest local performances at a local hip-hop showcase, called the Thesis hosted by Verbz.

Now at 22, Refugio has performed at a variety of places, including the Museum of Pop Cul- ture in Seattle, at one of their large performances where they got the opportunity to network with new fans and mentors. Refugio has a knack for creating passionate and strategic lyrics over a variety of genres of beats such as Funk, boom bap, Lo Fi, and more.

"I like to take a lot of time with my writing cause-I don't like to be lazy with my lyrics-I like to pack in as much as I can.“ Influenced by artists such as Frank Ocean, Prince and Kendrik Lemar, Refugio has began creating his own solo career in music and has already released a handful of projects over the last year. He plans to stay cooking in the studio collaborating with local artists and continuing to drop new music.
