THE SCRAPE - ISSUE 1

Lo Steele - By Rainezra

Born and raised in NE Portland, Lo Steele is an incredibly talented instrumentalist, songwriter, and singer who was brought into the local blues jazz and soul scene through her musical and well-known family. Despite being brought up in one music scene, Lo has been influenced and involved with many other scenes such as folk, hip hop and R&B. She captivates her audience through folk and soul influenced melodies and beautiful lyrics that make people cry, laugh and feel empowered. Along with her involvement with the Steele family, She has spent her recent years developing her career as a solo artist by creating and performing a plethora of original content and her first full length album dropping Summer of 2023.

Lo has also been heavily involved with theater since middle school and has done productions such as "Tick Tick Boom" with PCS, and is now currently working on a production about love, politics, blackness and womanhood called "What I Learned in Paris" showing in Portland and Saint Paul. Mentions of venues such as the 1905 and Alberta Street Pub were given high praise for providing some amazing performances and exposure opportunities to young jazz musicians. Make sure to check out her album dropping this summer!" "I'm kinda over being sad and discouraged and trauma, cause it already exists... so I'm hoping I can make people giggle and think... think and giggle"
